I participated in my first accepted purchase agreement at the end of July. My friends Paul and Kathy moved onto their property today. They will be renting the home while they wait for the closing in October.
I received their first phone call at the beginning of June. They traveled from the Jamestown, ND area and we met at a house for a showing. Nervously, I fumbled with the lock box for about five minutes before figuring out how to get it open. (I’ve been learning a lot of little things this summer) Paul looked familiar to me. I looked familiar to him. Then it dawned on us. We had both worked at the Prairie Wind Middle School in Perham about 20 years ago. From that point on, I felt at ease showing my first clients around a house I had never seen before.
We continue to look together at various houses in the Fergus Falls area during the summer. Nothing worked out quite right until we found their home-to-be in Dalton in mid-July. They were able to negotiate a very fair price and make arrangements to make repairs to the property while they wait for closing.
I found out what is really important to me as a real estate agent. With obvious joy, Kathy shared with me that her grandchildren were excited that they would be closer. I could sense their excitement to begin to make this home their castle, and I understood the feeling because I have had it each time my family has purchased a home. Assisting Paul and Kathy in finding their home has brought me great personal satisfaction.
A prayer from my July 6th morning devotions has become my mission statement as a real estate agent. I want to bring help, joy and benefit to home buyers and sellers. Here is the prayer:
